Welcome! This past year has been an exciting new chapter for Christ Church London, as we and the Leadership Team have been privileged to serve our church family together. We’ve celebrated some incredible moments – our joint services with record numbers being baptised, vibrant growth across our children’s and youth work, and the launch of our key values of Presence, Formation, and Mission. Prayer has deepened across our services through our Prayer Rooms, STEPS and Alpha courses have welcomed many exploring faith, and the church responded with extraordinary generosity in our biggest ever Gift Day offering. We loved gathering as a church family at the Wildfires Festival this summer and look forward to it next year! And though we’re sad to say goodbye to Helen and Shaninga Marasha, former leaders of our Stockwell Service, as they move to South Africa, we’re grateful for their leadership and excited for what’s ahead. Thank you you for being part of this journey with us; as we celebrate God’s faithfulness over the past year, we look forward with hope and expectation for all he has in store.
With much love and thanks,

We have had an average of 520 people attend our services each week. We celebrated CCL’s 20th birthday in October with a joint service together at Mary Ward House, and witnessed 27 people get baptised at our Gather 25 service in March! In Sutton, both English and Cantonese services began to meet together every other week as a further step towards joint fellowship and community.

We had a weekly average of around 150 kids and youth join in with our kids and youth work on Sundays, having fun and getting to know Jesus better together. After the success of Dreaming the Impossible last year, our youth had a great summer with 14 attending Wildfires and 19 at Newday the following week. We also opened applications for an exciting new Youth Leadership Academy (YLA) to start in the autumn term.

As at 31st July 2025, 31 communities met across London, both online and in person, midweek and after Sunday services, to pray, study the Bible, and fellowship together. Community leaders attended leadership training and ministry following our March Gather 25 joint service, as part of our commitment to supporting and equipping leaders across our services.

Our senior leaders, Andy and Joel, attended the Altars Conference in New York City in January this year and felt God’s call to pursue prayer more intentionally as a church. As a result, we launched several new prayer rooms – spaces for people to pray and connect with God together. We now have pre-service prayer rooms at all our locations, and morning prayer – either in person or online – on every weekday except Friday, which we pray will be filled soon!

In the place of our Summer Retreat this year, over 100 adults and children from CCL attended the Wildfires Festival, a four-day event dedicated to worship, teaching, fellowship, and prayer for God to send revival to the UK. Over 470 churches were in attendance, and many from the CCL camp shared greatly on how God ministered to them while they were there. We are looking forward to next year!

Last Christmas, we held a joint carol service in Central London on a Thursday evening, and it was a big success! 230 people attended the service, which featured carols led by the CCL Christmas Choir and written reflections on the four themes of Advent. We also raised £6,000 in our Christmas offering, divided equally between four local charities nominated by each service.

This year, Lent was a time to pray, fast, and reflect on our great need for God in everyday life. Over 80 people attended our Ash Wednesday service, and 150 attended our Good Friday service at Coborn Street, both in-person and online. We participated in weekly liturgies at our Sunday services, and encouraged the church to practise fasting once a week, with many continuing the practice afterwards.
450 people attended the Everything Conference in May this year – their biggest attendance to date! As always, there was an excellent line-up of contributors, along with a new exhibition feature showcasing organisations and projects in the business of cultural renewal. The Everything Leadership Development Cohort recruited 50 young professionals for their programme this year, after receiving an unprecedented number of applications. To facilitate this growth, the team have recently hired several new staff, including a new CEO!

547 people journeyed through STEPS in their Autumn 2024 and Winter 2025 courses, with countless numbers finding freedom from unhelpful patterns. STEPS was also launched in nine more countries! Alongside each course, STEPS produce a weekly podcast on the 12-step process. It received 4000 downloads this year alone!

CCL has partnered with IJM for over a decade, supporting their tireless work to end modern-day slavery and stop violence. Our more recent contributions have been towards their pilot project in the Dominican Republic, where they worked with the government and local communities to tackle sex trafficking of children. Their work has led to a 78% decrease in the commercial sexual exploitation of children.

CCL continues to support RE UK, both financially and by recruiting volunteer mentors to help thousands of young refugees across the country with educational needs. They have recently set up a new headquarters, The Lighthouse, to support their exponentially growing work with schools, colleges, universities, and local authorities.

CCL continues to support Compassion’s mission to release children from poverty across the world. In particular, we give each year towards the women’s survival centres in Kabeza and Budaha, Rwanda, the centres originally developed through CCL’s partnership with the charity. Not only are the mothers and children of the centres thriving as a result, but their husbands are regaining the trust of their communities, with many serving and leading in their local churches.

CCL donated £5,000 to Open Doors this year towards their Myanmar Earthquake Appeal. The recent earthquakes in Myanmar, in which thousands have died, been injured, or displaced, come on top of years of conflict and persecution disproportionately affecting Christians in the country. Myanmar is currently 13th on the World Watch List for Christian persecution, and so our prayers and support as a church go with Open Door’s work in this area.

CCL has been registered with Acts 435 for over 2 years now, to help meet the urgent needs of those in our church family. This year, we were able to provide £5,000 for various needs across the church. This is crucially down to the amazing generosity of all those attending the church, so thank you!

CCL was able to give a total of £14,000 to several other charities and social action groups this year, including Sutton Schools Work, Norwood and Brixton Foodbank, GrowTH, Sutton Community Works, BiGKid Foundation, Spinnaker Trust, CrossTeach, The Message Trust, London City Mission, and Robes Night Shelter.
